darkcasey I enjoyed The Baring Teeth on a number of levels. Firstly, I enjoy anything wolf-like. I also enjoy anything horror-based. On a dark ambient level, it’s full of those brooding, evil and raw soundscapes that I enjoy, with dark field-recordings, snippets of narrative and ominous booming spaces. On a wider level, it’s also the kind of album that a non-dark ambient/horror fan would probably look at in bafflement :D Favorite track: the cellar.

how many times have you read the term 'horror soundtrack' in connection with dark ambient music? canadian duo dev-i-ant take their sophomore album much further - anthony prugo’s lyrics and stories explore the abyss of human psyche, set to spine-chilling compositions by devin sabatini.

staying well clear of overplaying, the stripped down, almost raw musical adaption enhances the sheer dread of the stories told. creeping minimal atmospheres feign calm and peace, just to make the impact of found sounds more horrifying. once you enter, you’re compelled to explore the cellar, witness the hanging and the burning.
